FAQ ~ Flowers

Do you have a minimum?

I do not currently have a minimum, and I am happy to be inclusive of events of all sizes.

What is your process?

I like to set up a call or video so that I can learn about you, your event, and the aesthetic you're looking for.  From there, I create a pdf presentation and line item quote for your review.  I'm happy to make adjustments so that you're confident we're on the same page about the overall vision.  Should you choose to move forward with me, I ask for a 25% non-refundable deposit, as well as a signed contract to book the date.

Leading up to your event, I am happy to make updates, including large changes up to one month before the event, and minor updates up to two weeks before the event.

Where do you source your flowers from?

I have wonderful relationships with many local flower farms here in the Hudson Valley, and am a regular at the Hudson Valley Flower Collective, which brings flowers from many of those farm together at one pick-up point.  I love to use as much of what's in season as possible, as long as it aligns with the vision.

I also source from a few wholesalers - local, regional, and international.  Again, I begin with what is in season, and then branch out to the West Coast and internationally as needed.

Do you forage?

I forage a lot!  Whether you call it foraging or trespassing, I love gathering from nature.  When I do, I am always careful to leave plenty of flowers and greens behind, so they come back again and again, and stay present for pollinators.

What is your timeline for making an event?

We typically get our flowers on both Wednesday and Thursday for a Saturday event.  All of the pieces are made Thursday and Friday, so we always have an appropriate number of designers on hand, depending on the scope of the event, to ensure everything gets done in that amount of time.

What is your timeline on the event day?

We time this out based on when guests arrive, so that by then, we are either finished and gone, or out of sight in the reception area finishing up and loading out.  Depending on the scope of the event, we usually have an average of 5-6 hours on site.  We will have an appropriate number of crew members based on what the event entails.  For weddings, we usually focus on making sure the ceremony and cocktail hour are completed first, followed by the reception.

What steps do you take to be sustainable?

I am incredibly lucky to have access to the beautiful and unusual flowers grown locally in the Hudson Valley, and in addition to their beauty, quality, and longevity, buying local is the most sustainable option for flowers.  That's why I prioritize local first, followed by domestic, followed by international.

I do not use any floral foam, which is made of microplastics.  I use chicken wire to arrange in vessels, and a completely compostable material called Agrawool in lieu of foam.
